Greater Harvest Workshops

"Though our workshops, we want to sow seeds and produce MUCH fruit. Let us use our talent for writing, speaking, and leading to reach out to others with the plan of salvation and works that encourage Christians. Let's grow spiritually, and begin to see God use our lives to influence others in a growing and more profound way for more and more influence. Then use that influence for HIS honor and glory." - Donna Shepherd, founder, GHW.

Update (November 1, 2012):

9:30-10:30: Workshop 1

Tiffany Colter: Using Articles to Get Fiction and Nonfiction Published
When I started writing I hated the idea of writing articles. It was part of my training, but I didn’t like it. When I started trying to pitch my books, however, I discovered the true benefits of article writing. In this class we’ll look at:

How articles help the novelist
How articles help with non-fiction

This session will be jammed full of information, but we’ll try to save some time for your questions at the end too.

Wayne Holmes: Self Publish for Under $100
We will discuss the practicality of publishing for little or no money. Yes, it can be done for a hundred or even less, but you may need to learn some new editing and computer skills. We will talk about the nuts and bolts of how it’s done.

10:45 –11:45: Workshop 2

Carole Topp: Writing as a Ministry
If you write as part of a ministry of service to others, are you running a business, a hobby or a nonprofit organization? When does your writing hobby become a business?  We'll find out and discuss the pros and cons of forming a nonprofit organization as part of your writing ministry, too.

Wayne Holmes: Self Publish or ePublish?
In this session, we will talk about the how-to of self-publishing on a minimal budget. I will open the discussion to broader topics pertaining to self-publishing and eBooks. If time permits we may be able to do some hands-on training. Bring your laptop if you want to participate.

12:00 -1:00: Workshop 3 - Combined Session

Tiffany Colter: Success in the Changing Publishing Industry
Things are changing. Articles tell us that the days of the professional writer are ending while at the same time e-readers fly off the shelves.  What is the truth? How can a newbie writer get established? How can an established writer stay afloat? What are the keys to success in this changing industry? We’ll discuss these questions and many more. I earn my living by writing and I’ll tell you honestly what I did to do it. And I’ll name names!

1:00 - 1:20 - Closing Session:

Singing and worship with Donna Shepherd.
Door prizes, drawings, and giveaways!
(*One prize/person)

Two Most Often Asked Questions About Greater Harvest Workshops

1. Can we just show up for the Workshops?

We'd love for you to come either way, but we'd prefer that we have your registration ahead of time. It helps us to plan for the day knowing how many handouts are needed, which room to set the class up in, etc. All that said, you can still register the day of the workshops.

2. If I can't make it to this one, will you be having more?

Yes, we are continually planning for more workshops. Please note though - each time we will have different guest speakers and topics.

Thank you if you've already registered. Linore and I will see you soon! - Donna
